When World War II started in 1941, Colt still had on hand 400 frames left over from their pre-war Single-Action Army production. These frames were assembled in 1947-1961 era by Colt’s master craftsmen. Many of these revolvers were special presentations and/or retirement gifts to valued employees and executives. Many famous people from J. Edgar Hoover to General Douglas MacArthur were recipients.

Here for the first time is the complete story of these unique revolvers with full production figures. Topics in this study include presentations, sales, engraved revolvers, consecutive sets, and foreign sales. Covered in detail are the characteristics unique to this revolver and complete production information.
